Hormone Boosting Humous

Beetroots are excellent addition to make a humous for hormonal health. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals such as folate, magnesium, and vitamin C, beetroots support overall hormonal function.

They contain betaine, which helps in regulating the liver function, crucial for hormone detoxification.

Additionally, beetroots improve blood flow and oxygenation, supporting adrenal health and the production of balanced hormones. Their sweet nature can also help in reducing sugar cravings, which can help support the thyroid and the bodies stress levels.

I absolutely love humous, you can beat it slathered on a good bit of sourdough. This recipe is so simple but makes the most beautiful colour.

You will need

~ 1 can of chickpeas

~ 1 clove of garlic (add more if desired)

~ 1 roasted beet

~ 1 tbsp of tahini (I add more because I love it0

~ A good glug of olive oil and some (you can add extra as you are blending it)

~ A pinch of sea salt

~ Juice of half a lemon

Method

Roast the Beetroot:

~ Preheat your oven to 200°C.

~ Trim any leaves or stalks and then wrap it in aluminium foil.

~ Roast for about 45-60 minutes, or until it's tender when pierced with a fork or knife.

~ Let the beetroot cool, then peel off the skin and chop it into quarters.

The Hummus:

~ In a food processor, add the drained and rinsed chickpeas.

~ Add the roasted beetroot chunks.

~ Add the pealed garlic clove.

~ Add 1 tablespoon of tahini (or more if you prefer).

~ Add a generous glug of olive oil (about 2-3 tablespoons to start)

~ Add a pinch of sea salt.

~ Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the mixture.

~ Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy. If the hummus is too thick, add more olive oil or a little water to achieve your desired consistency.

~ Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt, lemon juice, or tahini to suit your taste.

To serve:

Serve with a drizzle with a bit more olive oil and garnish with optional toppings like sesame seeds, chopped herbs, or additional roasted beet chunks.

Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or crackers.

Enjoy your vibrant and delicious roasted beetroot hormone boosting, blood nourishing hummus!
